One reason I can think of why he might want to do that is to bolster up his reputation as being someone who can start up a super successful company. He probably has tons of dough, and his reputation at this point in his life might be more important than the relatively small amount of money he had tied up in SRNA. If that move is what it takes to get SRNA to really take off, then he can mark off SRNA as a huge success story on his resume.
