yes I actually have had some put to me through a vix spike and been way down. If i think there is more downside I sell a call at cost for further out(few months) I try to close it when the call is decent green or when I think vix may mean revert. but yes last time I sold calls I missed on lots of potential profit.(BIG if i timed it correctly) with the vix etfs I do not try to time, i take what it gives me and rinse and repeat
