IR Distro cameras appear to use the Hyperion IrCINE-X LWIR Lens made by Hyperion Development, LLC. IRD's camera lenses display the Hyperion name and Joel Bredow displayed the cameras in Hyperion's booth at the April 2015 SPIE DSS expo in Baltimore.

Hyperion apparently outsources manufacturing, which is appropriate for their type and size of business. Their expertise is in design and engineering -- not direct manufacturing. The cameras themselves (using Hyperion lenses) are likely made by one of Hyperion's contracted manufacturers, but IR Distro could have its own arrangement for manufacturing the cameras.

HYPERION DEVELOPMENT ACQUIRES AMF OPTICS

Hyperion is pleased to announce the acquisition of AMF Optics, Inc. and American Diamond Turning, LLC. The new consolidated company AMF Optics, LLC will operate as a subsidiary of Hyperion Development and provide support to Hyperion OEM programs, as well as continue to provide high quality traditional and diamond turned optical components. The original AMF and ADT founders Bob Lafreniere, Jeff Kenton, and Bob Ash will remain with the new subsidiary. We are very excited to add vertically integrated manufacturing capability to Hyperion’s growing OEM optical assembly business and the acquisition will allow us to further improve our already unprecedented speed in bringing complex lens systems to market. The exact relationship between Drone Services USA, Inc. (DSUS) and IR Distro is unclear. IR Distro was called a subsidiary in the first DSUSA PR, but has more recently been called a "partner." The "partnership" arrangement seems to be more accurate as it's doubtful that DSUS is the sole corporate member. It seems to be an entirely private entity.
