Gilead Sciences' Next Big Move May Not Be What You're Thinking

"...the rumor mill has repeatedly linked Gilead to buyouts of companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Celgene, Receptos, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals."

"A few months back, though, I pointed out that a big name acquisition is probably not in the cards for Gilead, and so far, I've been right. My belief stems from the fact that Gilead tends to go after small, clinical-stage companies where it can employ its vast experience to rapidly develop key experimental products."

Can you imagine what GILD would have to pay for Bristol?? What would that take?

They could save some pennies, and pick up a teeny biotech with an immunotherapy just wrapping up a phase 3 trial for FDA approval. Bavi can combine with and immunologically synergize both of BMY's downstream immunotherapies, and the similar immunotherapies of several other BPs. GILD could acquire PPHM for a relative song compared to BPs like: BMY, CELG, or VRTX.

Bavituximab can eventually be involved with multiple immunotherapy combinations, in multiple cancer indications. PPHM today would make for much better econmomical leveraging sense for GILD than trying to lift the likes of BMY.

If I'm betting on a horse, I say, "GO GILEAD"!
