IMO Wallach deliberately killed the STP project.

The project was initialized shortly before Wallach became CEO if memory serves correctly. But it really didn't do anything to further his little flashlight company - it had to go!

So instead of featuring products designed to appeal to the enormous crowd of NASCAR tailgaters they concentrated on guaranteed failure by "marketing" still another batch of cheap battery operated screwdrivers and drills into an already overcrowded marketplace.

Handled properly, the STP license could have been a goldmine!!!

As far as the ridiculous sponsorship of a race car obscurely advertising "vapor products", perhaps the the reason for this might have been for the boys to have the opportunity to get next to some NASCAR pit lizards.

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident. - Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860)
