imo the fundamentals behind oil have changed dramatically: fracking, and other production enhancements, mean we'll always have plenty of cheap supply... and the advent of less expensive electric vehicles, plus solar technology, means a slow drip of market share away from hydrocarbons.
the fact that oil has continued tanking during so many terrorist incidents in the middle east is also pretty telling.
