if you was actually watching the L2 you would notice as hits on the bid happened the sizes of Nite and Atdf would reduce (retail mm's). those market makers you are mentioning can easily be activated by specific brokers such as SpeedTrader. you can spin it however you like but people who know a lot about level2 and different broker accounts will understand what i just said.
