If you start with a flawed foundation you can only complete a flawed structure.
That includes in trying to figure out what is happening.
There is the flaw in the foundation of your structure.
What it means is ...
A there is no members to the BoD
or
the potential members were not making a site visit.
or
The site visit was not the last step.
IMO the best thing to do is roll back your information to the last known FACT.
IE .... the company is looking to add new board members.
That is the last known fact.
As far as we know they are still looking.
So far it appears that 3 months later they have not found anyone.
When and if they do they will let us know. Until then your best bet is to not put any faith in the rumors you hear. That way you wont be upset because the site visit was the last step.
If you didn't believe there was a site visit you wouldn't be expecting the announcement.
