John B, I wasn't challenging your statement. I was clarifying the implication and expressing surprise about the fact that orphan status can be awarded to a drug that has no history of human exposure.

I've heard percentages touted (quite high) of drugs that worked great in animals failing in humans.

Apparently the threshold for orphan status is not what I had assumed.
