Regarding what to do with cash...

I've been purchasing preferred stock with some of my cash. I've been getting 8-10% interest. Also, some of the preferred stock that I own is trading below the preference value and I have seen some appreciation of the price. So the return has been higher than just the interest rate. Three issues that I own include:

ASRVP - Ameriserve
WLFCP - Willis Lease
IMH-C/IMH-PC - Impac Mortgage

Note that for some reason the symbols of preferred stock vary based upon the service you are using (e.g. yahoo, your broker, etc.). If you can't figure out the symbol for your particular service, just use symbol lookup with the name above.

I intend to find some more like this in the near term.
