Dan, what are you trying to prove? That Intel put some effort towards the adoption of the i860 architecture? That's fine, because I'm sure they did; but if you are trying to suggest that Intel is putting no more effort in Itanium than they put into i860, then you are obviously wrong, and everybody knows it.

There is no comparison, Dan. It's like night and day. There isn't a computer architecture out there that has had so much money poured into it in such little time. Intel is far more committed to Itanium than they have been for any other architecture besides x86. It is the most obvious future for them, but the only way to make it successful is to continue to seed the ecosystem and reduce the cost barriers. In some cases, it's a chicken and egg game, and the only way forward is to put more money into it. God knows you've been preaching the high cost of this architecture since day-1. You more than anyone should realize the size of the commitment that Intel has towards the design. So if you're going to sling mud, at least be consistent.
