THOMAS M. MAHER, 57, was named region vice president and general manager, Apache Egypt in January 2013. Maher joined Apache in 1986 in Tulsa as a senior staff geologist and subsequently held the positions of geoscience manager and exploration and development manager. He transferred to Cairo in 2002 as geological manager and became exploration manager in 2005. Most recently, Maher served as region vice president and managing director, Apache Energy Ltd. Prior to joining Apache, he worked in various exploration and development geology assignments with Cotton Petroleum and Texaco in the Mid-continent, Rockies and China.

Maher holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Massachusetts, a master’s in Geology from Miami University (Ohio), and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He is an American Association of Petroleum Geologists Certified Petroleum Geologist.
