TDA TOS had routing issues am/day

This is timestamped 1812ET but retail traders were saying delay issues most of the day.

Ameritrade Had Order Routing, Messaging Problems -- 2nd Update

Some TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. customers experienced delays in placing orders Friday morning due to a software glitch, the brokerage said.
The brokerage experienced an order-routing and messaging issue around 9:30 a.m. EDT on one of its trading platforms for retail customers. The problem was resolved about 30 minutes later, around 10 a.m. , a TD Ameritrade spokeswoman said.
The issue was related to an overnight software update and affected retail customers who used a trading platform called thinkorswim, said the spokeswoman. Two days earlier, the New York Stock Exchange had a nearly four-hour outage that was also related to a software update.
Thinkorswim users typically trade a variety of securities, including equities, options and futures. The issue wasn't limited to a specific security type. On Friday morning, client orders were routed successfully to the brokerage firm's various market centers but the glitch caused delays in completing the transactions.
TD Ameritrade said the software update was part of a regular release and that it was continuing to investigate the cause of the issue.
Joe Uelk , a 42-year-old former computer engineer who now trades full time, said he tried to sell some futures tied to the S&P 500 index shortly after the opening bell. When the Dallas native tried to close his position, his order didn't go through, he said.
"It's frustrating because you see the market going down, down, down and you can't do anything about it," said Mr. Uelk. TD Ameritrade later reversed some of his trades so that he didn't lose money.
A TD Ameritrade spokeswoman said the firm works with clients individually to help resolve issues when such events happen.
NYSE , a unit of Intercontinental Exchange Inc. , said Thursday that traders began having communications problems Wednesday morning related to a software update made to one part of the system that matches buyers and sellers. When errors persisted, NYSE President Thomas Farley suspended trading.
No NYSE trades were canceled and there was no disruption to the actual trading, which carried on at other exchanges throughout the period, but the outage underscored the fragility of the systems that underpin the capital markets.
