As a result of recent changes to our regulations, cannabis oil products will be available to CanniMed patients in as little as 60 days.
As you may have already heard, Health Canada recently updated our regulations to allow us to produce cannabis preparations and derivatives. This comes as a result of a Supreme Court ruling in June 2015 that made it legal for patients to turn their dried flower cannabis into derivative products, like oils.
There are a few steps yet to go before we can start taking customer orders, including making our formal application to Health Canada for a supplemental licence to produce cannabis oil. However, we have been planning for this regulation change for a long time and we already have our operating procedures and our facilities in place to start manufacturing. The final step in the process will be for Health Canada to do a formal inspection and to approve our new licence to produce derivatives.
If licensing goes smoothly we expect this process to take about two months, and we will be in touch as soon as we begin accepting orders for these new products.
