They are growing the number of resigning employees too!
Let’s play “Who’s quit Adaptive Media, the rocket that’s ready-to-blast-off, since the layoffs announced in Feb/Mar 2015?”
* The Senior Director of Client Applications (IE - guy who developed The Player) - left for competitor.
* Software Engineer (The #2 Player developer) - left for competitor.
* Software Engineer - left for competitor.
* The Chief Architect - quit to be a low-level programmer-cog in the Google machine. This feels less like a downward-to-lateral move, than it does a "GET ME OFF THIS CRAZY THING!" move.
* Director of Platform Development (Biz Dev & Acct Mgmt)
* Director of Finance (who has actual accounting experience, unlike the current CFO).
* Director of Operations (Ad Ops)
* Director of Platform Applications (IE - the lead Media Graph engineer)
* Product Manager
* Project Manager/Data Analyst
* Two Account Mangers, one of which is the Orville guy who Newelong keeps counting as a current employee.
* Senior Account Manager
* Office Manager and Executive Assistant (got off the rocket-to-riches to sell Mary Kay)
That’s a long list of people who’ve left the company in the last few months. And, since no layoffs have been announced, these all appear to be voluntary resignations. In some cases, these people spent years building the rocket-ship to a mega NASDAQ-payday. Now they’ve just decided - eh, I’m going to get off mere weeks before blast off?
By my reckoning, Adaptive Media has maybe 18-22 employees. I’m not going to count board members, people who have Adaptive in their LinkedIn “Past” but not “Present” (like Charles Harman or Orville), or Interns.
The company has two open positions; Senior Software Engineer, and Software Engineer. To replace: the guy who was in charge of The Player, the guy who was in charge of Media Graph, and the guy who co-wrote Ember and brought all the tech pieces together - and a couple of their top assistants. I guess they don't need any new sales or accounts folks, that would indicate growth, or the expectation of growth.
Still, it feels like I'm forgetting something... Oh yes...
* The interim COO - Resigned, claiming bad-faith on the part of Adaptive's board, as well as non-payment (a reoccurring issue with Adaptive Media).
