Jdubs,
If I may tweak your answer a bit, a roadshow such as Addax' is usually intended to tell the company "story" to new or existing institutional investors or individual big hitters who then may be induced to purchase stock on the open market. The moniker dog-n-pony show is usually reserved for an initial or secondary equity offering or a debt issue. These shows are often arranged by the company's investment bankers, in Addax' case Merrill and RBC. Traditionally, investment bankers don't take equity stakes in their sponsored company except as a market maker, i.e. price stabilization post IPO, in their course of their merger and acquition activity or their proprietary trading account which has become an emerging and dominant theme on Wall Sreet. Investment bankers meet privately with client companies and also buy outside proprietary reseach.
Don't mean to preach but I've been on both sides of the street for more years than I'd care to admit.
