While impressive,it still leaves more questions than answers....

I agree. While it is exciting to see them develop a new, much stronger fiber, They stated that they are still working to standardize the silk properties.

I have good reason to believe that they gave themselves about 3 months from the time they developed Big Red to the time that they announced it in a PR. How long did they give themselves for the Dragon Silk announcement? I do personally believe that the announcement was a little premature in order to give themselves more meat for the newsletter and to try to drive up the PPS and volume.

At this point, i don't think that anything will make a difference in the PPS except the set up of an actual commercial facility.

I am glad that they gave a definite value for a change. The 1.79 gigapascals value is indeed stronger than the Golden Orb Weaver dragline silk which is up to 1.2 gigapascals in strength and it is within the range of the Darwin Bark Spider dragline silk which is 1.85 ±0.35 gigapascals. This leads me to believe that they have developed a synthetic Darwin Bark Spider genetic insertion code to use on the silkworms to develop this fiber.

I was unsure of how the company would do with the upcoming competition in the industry, but this fiber, when fully developed (assuming it maintains its properties), should allow them to compete in both price and properties of the fibers.
