The 2004 "Inventor of the Year" recipient was Dr. George D. Skidmore, Director of Research at Zyvex Corporation. Dr. Skidmore has seven patents issued to date that are fundamental to new approaches to high-precision, automated assembly manufacturing, related to parallel assembly systems, tethering methods to constrain released parts, micro-grippers to capture parts, and self-centering methods of connecting parts - key to realizing low-cost downsizing of parts, effecting a new paradigm in manufacturing.
