While this might be construed as political, I think it fits as a rant.
I really don't know about the rest of you, but this whole move by our resident president to force a vote on the proposed Gay Marriage amendment seems totally stupid to me. What a waste of time. I have been a conservative since I became able to think for myself, which was some time during my high school years, but what does this have to do with why we sent these turkeys to Washington in the first place?
This country is beset with important problems. Here is a list of things I wish my congresscritters would work on instead:
Balance the budget
Fix Social Security
Deal with skyrocketing medical costs and the cost of medical insurance.
Do something effective about our dependence upon foreign oil.
Gain control of our borders and expell all (I mean every dammed one) of the undocumented and illegal aliens here.
Fix an educational system that used to give Americans the chance at upward mobility and now dooms many to failure as human beings.
I am sure there are more equally important things for them to be working on, but instead, they dither about such minutiae. Maybe the time is here to send them all home to get real jobs, enact term limits, and reform the legislative process to eliminate pork barrel amendments.
