When a stock has low (lower) volume than many others with similar PPS, buying on the BID is going to hurt you as well as other investors.

If the PPS is at 0.18 and you buy on the bid of 0.175, the PPS will go to 0.175 and people won't see the upward momentum that you would have contributed if you bought on the ASK of 0.185.

If it looks like it's going down, less people will buy. If you give the thing a boost of momentum, you may see your shares you bought at 0.185 go up to 0.195 from it.

My strategy is to buy my biggest chunk up front, then it makes me happy to buy at the ASK while filling the rest of my order.
