It doesn't sound like you have any experience with getting a contract set up between two companies. Both companies legal departments have lots of "protect our future business" requirements that make the process very difficult. If they have any tiny concern it gets addressed with some sort of clause or condition. Details such as fees paid are routinely kept private. Not quite the same thing, but close enough, if you understand why lawsuit payments are kept private then this should make sense too.
