It may well be that the latest version of the tip can only be built using the AM process, but earlier versions were built up of 20 (or maybe 21, depends where you get the info) separate pieces and welded (or brazed) together:

"20 separate parts were once machined together to construct the nozzle’s interior passageways, there is now only one piece built up by a layering of powdered metals melted and fused together through a direct metal laser melting, or DMLM, process."
