Her sauce was better!

I watched a special on TV the other night, a re-run of sorts, about cyber bullying via texts/email etc. Two teen age "kids" committed suicide as a result. This is something far too common in societies around the world.

I'm 67.5 of age, with looking back to the 50's & 60's, a few of my guy buddies took their own life. 1 from rejection when a girlfriend broke up with him, another because he was very short, piers teased him about it (not me btw) and he just could not take it anymore...there were others...sad.

Back then it was face to face harassment, bullying, taunting, you name it.

In these modern times, people hide behind their smart phones and do same, but far worse than my day, such as a guy taking nudes of his girlfriend, they break-up for unrelated reasons, then the guy..a total jerk, broadcasts the pics all over school, which was in this TV piece, ending in death.

One of the challenges WBSI faces, is getting parents to take better control of their kids in the privacy area. Anyone who is a parent, knows when the teenage years come along, not all but most, become secretive. They shut their bedroom door when on the web, chatting with friends, or go outside the house when a call comes in so that they cannot be heard.

There in lies the fine line in monitoring their contact with friends, including those who are not true friends at all.

In this TV piece, these bullies were also called cowards and other choice descriptions.

Teen life is full of competition be it sports, popularity for various other reasons, and it's different for boys & girls. The youth are fragile, so parents need to understand this and do their damn job!

The more latitude a parent gives their kids, the more they will over step that line until their reins are tugged, and WBSI has a "tool" to help.

Talk about marketing campaign, that's the easy part. Overcoming the culture that has developed on the parental side beginning IMO in the 80's and beyond, now that's the real challenge..PARENTS, are you up to it?

Give above some thought and spread the word.
