"One", I could not agree more with your last passing comment. I was concerned about this trial when I found out that the jury was composed of eight lay-person females. In fact I bought short term puts two days ago as a little insurance, but I wish now I had bought a lot more. I learned in 1995 with IDCC vs Motorola that the American jury system cannot be trusted to render a rational fact-based verdict in highly technical cases. Many times the decision comes down to which legal team is perceived to be the nicest or the cutest. And having an attractive female lead counsel is not beneficial with an all female jury (Ask any HR supervisor.)

Bottom line: a jury verdict in a patent case is literally a roll of the dice. That is why when MARA takes another case before an American jury, I will buy even more puts as a hedge.

That said, this loss has to be viewed as some here have already indicated, a disappointment, but as simply one "out" in a nine inning game. This does not predict outcome even with other defendants involved with this same patent portfolio. And thanks to a much better German system, even Schrader is not off the hook. I have confidence in Croxall to continue to execute going forward. This company will "win" many more than it "loses". It will be interesting to see any comments to be made by the analysts that follow MARA.
