murgirl: I don't think it has anything to do with quality. Read the following again:

“We are handset-agnostic,” says Sampson. “We don’t sell the devices - we will work with the airline to select the most appropriate."

Mezzo Movies... and e.Digital Corporation... are partnering to make e.Digital’s proprietary eVU™ personal media player available to airlines, with emphasis on international short haul, low cost carriers.

Mezzo sounds like is mostly a consulting firm and that will make the eVu an option to airlines with which they seek to contract. The airlines would be the ones to make the decision as to whether or not to purchase or rent eVUs.

This is a marketing alliance like so many of e.Digital's previously announced "partnerships" over the years (TGE, et, al.).

IMO, both Mezzo and e.Digital are desirious of PRs - Mezzo for market exposure and e.Digital for damage control and to try to drive support for the stock.

IMS and digEcor have nothing to gain by announcing a relationship with a little upstart.

Also, note that the article is nearly 1.5 years old. Since then Astronics dropped the Yes Solo and Phantom Media has created it's own semi-embedded IFE system called "Bluebox." It sounds a lot like the digEsystem.

I doubt that Mezzo continues to work with Phantom (if it ever seriously did). They no longer mention them.

Mezzo may be just another wannabe.
