I would suggest 4 threads are now needed just as much in mobility

I disagree.

Going from 2 to 4 way SMT will almost always be a win for Xeon
type workloads.

Going from 2 to 4 way SMT will produce mixed results for mobile
and PC workloads (sometimes helps, sometimes hurts). Competitors
will cherry pick cases where 4 way loses compared to the previous
generation and enthusiast sites will tend to focus on losing cases
and will say stick with 2 way or disable SMT altogether.
