You're absolutely correct. A patent pending is normally better than a patent that's issued. Once issued, any company/person can go to the public patent and see the secret formula.

I think Cavanaugh probably got information that an order/contract was coming and that hasn't materialized yet. Why else would a CEO put out publicly that things are a changing, only to disappoint the market or its shareholders? The problem with this is TMMI's history is full of these things and makes one wonder if it's just same-o, same-o. As such, an explanation should have been sent. JMO
