Coda Echoscope 3D Real Time Sonar and UIS Concept Demonstration in Florida for Port & Harbor Security Expansion

On Tuesday, June 27th, CodaOctopus and its operations partner, the University of South Florida Center for Ocean Technology, will host a demonstration of the system designed for real time port and harbor inspection, ship hull scanning and swimmer identification. The one day event, in connection with the 2006 US Coast Guard Innovation Exposition in nearby Tampa, takes place in the Port of St. Petersburg.

Ten years in development and now being delivered to customers around the world, the Coda Echoscope represents a unique and important technological advance, with its 3D sonar capabilities for the rapid detection and clear imaging of underwater objects, both moving and static, in real time. It is the centerpiece of the highly portable Underwater Inspection System, which is expected to be increasingly utilized throughout the world to protect ports and harbors from acts of terrorism.

Commencing at 10.00am, the program begins with a brief orientation, after which invited guests will board a vessel for the live on-water demonstration, including scanning for mine like objects.

The objective of the day is to present the unique capabilities of the Coda Echoscope and the Underwater Inspection System (UIS) by completing 3D real time sonar scans of local seawalls and docks, pilings and sections of the hull of a target vessel using a small local vessel of opportunity as the sonar support platform.

In addition to the on-water demonstration, attendees will also observe the complete Underwater Inspection System concept, working with real time data being streamed to a command and control center. From the center data can be broadcast over the web so that anyone with secure access rights can access it from any internet connection.

The demonstration and orientation will be led by a team of key personnel involved in the Coda Echoscope and UIS project:

Tony Parker, Vice President, CodaOctopus, Inc.
Angus Lugsdin, CodaOctopus Group, Inc.
John Kloske, Director of Operations, Center for Ocean Technology, University of South Florida
Steve Untiedt, Operations Manager, Center for Ocean Technology, University of South Florida

Venue: Port of St. Petersburg, Florida at the Center for Ocean Technology (COT), University of South Florida.
