Learned something new today, thanks to N4longterm. Sorry if I'm repeating something very obvious, but thought to pass it on for the other smartphone and tablet users like myself who hardly ever log into the full website from a PC.

There IS a setting to block replies to posts from people you've ignored. Click on 'Settings' top right on your screen, then click on 'My Ignores'. The option is called 'Replies To Ignored People'. I should've known to check the full website as it has more options to configure than the iPad and iPhone apps.
