yeah they are liquid enough if the stock is near the strike price. If you have a call for 100 and the stock is at 90... there won't be any trades on that option. If your call or put expires in that scenario, you just let it expire worthless and you lose all you put in it.
I only put $50 in those BABA calls. And sold for around $500. So you don't need to put in much money.
