Pebble vs. EPA's regulatory overreach

Worth reading because LBSR's claims are on the same caldera as Pebble, near Bristol Bay, Alaska. Any real progress toward permitting there may have a shadow effect (small, probably) on the perceived value of our claims.

The Wall Street Journal published a column by noted contributor Kimberley Strassel about behind-the-scenes activity at the EPA and its efforts to preemptively stop the project.

Strassel points to emails and documentation that show the EPA has “acted for ideological reasons, and in coordination with green activists,” and that this has lead to a “scandal worthy of resignations” within the government.

On May 2, the Alaska Dispatch News wrote a story updating readers about current activities the Pebble Partnership is pursuing, including upcoming litigation against the EPA and investigations into its questionable actions.

Though the Inspector General’s office is already investigating whether activities were conducted in a biased manner, Erica Martinson reports, “Pebble isn’t letting things lie with investigations by the Inspector General and concerned congressmen: It has initiated its own independent review of the EPA’s actions through the Cohen Group in Washington, D.C.”
