I believe this is exactly correct. These "pipes" guys rarely take any real risk. Surely, getting shares/options at 50%-90% below market does not constitute a lot of risk. And if/when pps starts to drop, they have ways of driving the market up -- if only high and long enough so they can sell their shares. I cannot judge the value Cornell has added here, but they surely have made a fortune when almost no one else has.
