Yes I agree that Intellitube is great for retro-fitters. Customers have to pay them twice.
Once for the plug & play install and then again when the ballast fails and they need to re-wire the fixture, taking out the ballast, installing new sockets and switching the mode of the bulb to direct wire.
What happens to the UL listing of the fixture after that has happened?
Would having non-UL compliant lighting fixtures have negative implications for fire insurance policies?

It makes more economic sense to convert to real LED fixtures instead of using retro-fit tubes.
Plus the quality of the light of the new fixtures is vastly superior.
EFOI's Intellitube makes an existing fluorescent light fixture look worse because it does not direct any light upward into the reflector. This reflected light provides important ambient light and reduces the glare effect that is so prevalent in anything with an EFOI lamp installed in it.
