Industry Continues Rise in Profile as Policy Makers and Prominent Hydrogen Technology Companies Meet to Continue Moving Forward
May 12, 2015: 03:30 AM ET

HyperSolar, Inc. (OTCQB: HYSR), the developer of a breakthrough technology to produce renewable hydrogen using sunlight and any source of water, commented today on the recent "2015 Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Policy Forum" co-hosted by the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA), in cooperation with the House Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Caucus.
According to the FCHEA, the event was held as part of a continuing effort by FCHEA to raise awareness of the benefits of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies to important policy-making audiences, in Washington, D.C. and around the country. Representatives from prominent hydrogen fuel technology developers including Air Liquide, Plug Power, Toyota Motor North America, and Bloom Energy attended the event, as well as the U.S. Department of Energy.
Politicians bullish on the industry drew attention to the importance of investing in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, citing potential in both commercial and industrial applications, as well as consumer-use, such as fuel cell vehicles. Congressman Charlie Dent (R-PA) said, Continued research and development will lead to greater efficiencies in production and practical applications," while Congressman John Larson (D-CT) stated, "Fuel cells represent the best of American ingenuity and manufacturing. Along with the continued collaboration with the Department of Energy, this industry will continue to grow and support American jobs."
The FCHEA has continues to press companies and policy makers to recognize the potential for hydrogen fuel cell adoption, previously commenting on an Executive Order from President Obama that included multiple references to advancing fuel cell technologies for federal sustainability. The agency also recently reported on the development of hydrogen fuel stations in the US, citing projects on both coasts, as well as funding announcements and hydrogen companies and automotive manufacturers around the world.
"Hydrogen fuel technologies that not too long ago represented the future of energy, are rapidly becoming more prevalent in part due to the collaboration of companies in both the public and private sectors, as well as policy makers from both sides of the aisle," said Tim Young, CEO of HyperSolar. "As commitment grows for building the infrastructure needed to support such widespread adoption, the need for cost-efficient hydrogen produced at or near the point of distribution becomes paramount. For this reason and others, we are very optimistic regarding our technology as a viable solution to this challenge in all potential applications of use."
HyperSolar's technology is based on the concept of developing a low-cost, submersible hydrogen production particle that can split water molecules using sunlight without any other external systems or resources -- acting as artificial photosynthesis. A video of an early proof-of-concept prototype can be viewed at http://hypersolar.com/application.php.
About HyperSolar, Inc. HyperSolar is developing a breakthrough, low cost technology to make renewable hydrogen using sunlight and any source of water, including seawater and wastewater. Unlike hydrocarbon fuels, such as oil, coal and natural gas, where carbon dioxide and other contaminants are released into the atmosphere when used, hydrogen fuel usage produces pure water as the only byproduct. By optimizing the science of water electrolysis at the nano-level, our low cost nanoparticles mimic photosynthesis to efficiently use sunlight to separate hydrogen from water, to produce environmentally friendly renewable hydrogen. Using our low cost method to produce renewable hydrogen, we intend to enable a world of distributed hydrogen production for renewable electricity and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
