you'll have to explain what it means to "roll" your calls or puts. I would love to hear more about that strategy.

Sure. I was short July $7.50 Puts. My hopes of them expiring worthless are not looking good so I bought them back to close @ $1.45 and sold Oct $7.50 Puts to open for $1.85. Net $0.40. I am still short the same number of contracts but I bought myself some time, or maybe I should say I sold some time.
