That is true. If a company does not make it it should be due to poor leadership or whtever reason.
One should never assume that the CEO is going to purposely have the company delisted and not even keep the shareholders up to date.
That is just wrong and IMO illegal. Some boards this type of thing would be celebrated. Shareholders losing all of their investment. I find it heart breaking that this type of thing could occur.
