Honestly, YES EntoGenetics - Founder is Dr. Brigham

Have you had the pleasure of speaking with him?

I have.

EntoGenetics is currently in pilot-scale production in Charlotte, NC. We have secured and are fulfilling a contract with the US Army to produce ballistic shoot packs made from EntoGenetics’ spider silk. We are continuing to increase the performance capabilities of our 100% pure spider silk while scaling operations to meet anticipated demand.

You asked for it:

Overview
The Department of the Army awarded this $309,159 contract to Entogenetics Inc. for Armor, Personal.

The contract was signed on June 17, 2013 and ended on June 17, 2014.

Furthermore, in an article dates 10/14/14:

Brigham says EntoGenetics is trying to create silk that is 100 percent from spider genes as opposed to a hybrid of spider and silkworm genes.

Not convinced yet?

Allow me to show another article dated 10/15/14:

For the last five years, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based company named EntoGenetics has been claiming it has the ability to take the genes that allow spiders to spin webs and implant them into silkworms so that the spider silk can be harvested.

The problem so far is that EntoGenetics has attempted to patent this gene combination technique since 2009, but it hasn't gone through yet. The patent application was rejected most recently in April 2014.:

FYI....

The PAIR system shows that February 2015 they submitted yet another application.

So continue pulling info from their site,in the hopes that it's both up to date and accurate.

Bolt threads

Not much info to go on,is there?

Let's re-examine:

They hope to start selling their silk commercially by 2016.

Were you aware that the author of said article, namely Ryan Chapman, has only produced one article....

And that was the one.

A scientist of theirs posts on Jul 25, 2013:

This is a small startup, so the risk of failure is part of the deal. As an R&D focused startup there is a continued risk around moving to commercialization.

The latest mention of Bolt Threads comes on Feb 19, 2015:

Industrial biotech companies such as Amyris have reemerged with strategies to scale, while new entrants such as Bolt Threads and Modern Meadow are pioneering novel biomaterials like spiders' silk and bioreactor-grown leather.
