It makes perfect sense, if you put in a sell above way above the ask, it locks up your shares and the MM's cant use them to trade. It will drive the MM's bonkers, they will be ripping their hair out to get shares.

Playing stocks is like crossing 16 lanes of heavy traffic during rush hour, if you're not extremely careful you are bound to be road pizza.
