Same here. Show me something that supports this. Ah, and what has the lifetime of a node to do with its R&D costs?

Regarding Samsung, they make a lot of money on Android devices. Intel and its OEMs should provide comparable Android devices at lower costs. When Samsung starts losing device market share, they will have to take stock of their future as a merchant IC vendor. You got to hit them where it hurts.


Samsung has the memory business, which is extremely profitable these days, don't forget that. Samsung really is a different animal, but they also have to pay ARM and the likes and their competitors in the device business will do everything not to buy from them and will warmly welcome Intel in this business (together with Micron for memories).
