Sienna Gold cuts 2.6 g/t Au over 94 m at Igor

2006-05-29 09:26 ET - News Release

Mr. John Rucci reports

SIERRA CUTS 94 METERS AT 2.6 GPT GOLD AND 65.8 GPT SILVER

Sienna Gold Inc. has completed two additional drill holes on the Igor property.

A summary of the 146.8-metre hole 9d is shown below. The hole was collared at elevation 3188 and drilled obliquely to the strike of the breccia zone at an inclination of minus 35 degrees from the horizontal. It entered the breccia zone at elevation 3166 and penetrated a true thickness of approximately 42 metres.

This hole confirms the existence of mineralization to the north of the areas previously sampled and the company is currently doing step-out drilling through an ancient landslide farther to the north. This hole was drilled 15 metres past the breccia zone into the Chicama formation and the average grade of this material was over 0.2 gram per tonne Au.

A summary of the 112.8-metre hole 9c is shown on the table below. The hole was collared at elevation 3232 and drilled approximately perpendicular to the breccia at an inclination of minus 70 degrees from the horizontal. It entered the breccia zone at elevation 3170 and penetrated a true thickness of approximately 10.6 metres of mineralization.

The 9a, b, c, d series of drill holes were drilled to crosscut the Tesoros breccia zone at increasing depths. Hole 9a crosscut the breccia zone below the 3120 mine workings level. Holes 9b and 9c crosscut the breccia zone between the 3120 and 3150 mine workings levels. Hole 9d crosscut the breccia zone between the 3150 level, and the Randy 2 and 3 crosscut workings.

Now that the Tesoros breccia zone has been crosscut at five successive elevations, Sienna's geologists are able to subdivide the Tesoros breccia zone into alteration/mineralization zones typical of sediment-hosted, structural controlled, high sulphidation, epithermal, mineralized systems. Holes 9a, b and c crosscut the Tesoros breccia in the lower distal zone where widths are in the 10-metre to 15-metre range and grades are similar to those announced. Hole 9d and the Randy 2 and 3 crosscut workings cut the Tesoros breccia zone in the zone of boiling, where widths and grades are typically two to three times more than those encountered in the lower distal zones of these types of epithermal systems. The company's drill results lend credence to this geologic model.

The downdip width and grade relationships of the breccia zone are now better understood. This will allow near-term exploration drilling to focus on discovering strike extensions to the north and downdip extensions to the south of the outcropping, central Tesoros breccia zone.

Anomalous copper, lead and zinc assays in the drill hole samples gives added weight to the company's belief in the existence of a mineralized, underlying porphyry system.

Sampling methodology

Cores taken from the diamond drill rig are stored in plastic core boxes and transported to the camp site for detailed logging. When logged the core is sent from the project site to the company's secured site in Trujillo for splitting with a diamond saw. One-half of the split core is then sent to an accredited laboratory in two-metre sample lengths. The company's independent, qualified person has completed a chain of custody review to ensure the integrity of all sample data.

Assaying methodology

The samples are analyzed by an accredited laboratory in Lima by atomic absorption for silver and a 30-gram fire assay technique for the gold analysis. Samples which exceeded the detection limits were reassayed using a gravimetric fire assay technique. Blank samples are randomly inserted into the sample runs and referee assays are done on randomly selected samples to confirm the laboratory results. The specific procedures used by the lab can be found in the company's 43-101 report on the Igor property.

This press release has been reviewed and approved by Murray Lytle, PEng, and Randy Henkle, PGeol, who are the company's qualified persons.

We seek Safe Harbor.
