"By the way - Asus gives a 3-year warranty on their motherboards. So, for any board released in the last 3 years, they don't even bother with the date of purchase! They simply service it. Nice folks."

For the record MSI replaced a board where the CPU1 fan header fried. I had used it in several cases in a 2-3 year period and it had a 1 year warranty, they replaced my ver 3.0 MB with a refurbished ver 5.0 at no cost.

I can't say I have as much faith in MSI now with all the reviews/messages I've read about reliability issues with some newer MSI boards but their tech support and RMA process was as painless as it could possibly have been in the case I had.
