And the amount of energy input (formation energy of H2 versus formation energy of formic acid) versus the amount of energy output is about the same for both based on Mols (the only real way to compare them chemically) of each.

The weight of formic acid is higher because of the CO2 used to carry the H2 as a liquid. How much does 2/3 of the cargo space on an 18 wheeler and the high pressure tanks weigh when added to the H2 weight? Or do you plan to carry the H2 in the open with no pressure at atmospheric pressure and near zero mass (thus near zero fuel)? That might run truck for a bout 10 seconds LOL.

Not to mention the wasted cargo space and need for three trucks to haul the load of one using H2 for fuel
