Yeah, me too, drinking and poker, started with all night penny poker at friends house 13-14 .. studied hard and drank huge at uni and missed many lessons .. took forced piano lessons as a kid, but no natural talent and yearned to be outside .. quit as soon as i could .. one thing dad was right about, i do wish i could play better now .. lol .. biggest achievement at uni, i thought, was being given a pass in a philosophy exam even though i had written the exam for the half of the course i was going to take 2nd half of the year .. crammed all night on the right stuff, then to a hall where both were being written, sat down in the wrong section, and every question i thought was the one the teacher had said would be on stuff not in the course .. lol, my dad's reaction to my glee, was 'philosophy! waste of space, why be a fool and take it!!' .. ha, not pleased at all .. the prof was an American who had worked in one of your embassies in S America .. he was a good guy, too .. he said, "well, you didn't really quite pass, but you did so well on a course you hadn't taken that i'll give you 51%" .. i'll never forget those words .. have a guitar now, 'bout the 3rd one, but can't play it at all .. have never stuck at it .. and an old upright piano i don't play as much as i should .. can read music, but by memory or ear .. no way .. lol, sometimes i just fiddle and sounds ok to my ear .. but that sucks ..

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
