You understand what quotes mean, don't you? I've been responding to people pooh-pooh'ing Intel's "high fixed costs" (which are part of the equation that results in their low net margin, despite their much higher gross margins.)

I don't know how you can say I've been at all inconsistent.

Oh, you're actually being very consistent in what you do on this board. Again the question you refuse to answer: Why do higher net margins of TSMC indicate lower fixed costs than Intel's? Don't you want to answer this question or is it because you can't?

Seems like you still have a hard time dealing with the fact that TSMC forecasts 30+% more capex spending in 2015 than Intel does.

Again, I mentioned it already in my initial statement about reduced CAPEX spending in the industry, remember? I have no hard time with this at all.

Besides, with all that CAPEX spending of TSMC, how can Intel lead in process technology as much?

"Fierce competition in the foundry business" while Intel sits on the sidelines, already forced to pay their way into the market?

Where did they pay their way into the foundry business?

The only reason anybody pays attention to Intel in mobile at all is because of their massive contra-revenue. Without that, Intel wouldn't even be a factor right now.

It is still hurting the foundries, with contra revenues or without.

Costs are about to be reduced with better platform designs. Intel screwed that up, that's known, but they are certainly going to fix it. Another fact you don't want to accept is that Intel doesn't have to pay all those third party IP parasites together with the foundry margin (which is so great for TSMC). A very good basis, where Intel is hopefully about to fix its design issues for cost leadership products.

Hell, if the fabless ecosystem battling over mobile starts to impact the PC market a little harder, Intel could start getting hurt 4 REALZ purely as a side-effect of that battle.

Because people are replacing their PCs with phones, is that what you want to say? The cooling of the smartphone business is actually supporting your argument really well and you know heaps of people who do everything with their phones and don't use PCs, like yourself, right?
