If you read up on Dr. Jone's aquaponics system you'll find that it raises fish alongside plants using just 5% of the water normal agriculture uses. That efficient use of recycled water may very well become the benchmark for future food production in an increasingly dry climate.

MJ needs water - Lots of it - and fertilizer. The grow ops that incorporate this efficient method will be in a much better position to withstand drought than standard outdoor grows relying on rain or rapidly declining aquifers.
