I still have an AT&T land line connected to my home and use it only for my rarely used fax machine oh and yes my DSL internet signal which was a new business model AT&T came up with to still get revenue stream from land lines as many folks left them as cell phones and other methods became available for long distance service. Last I checked AT&T was not able to charge me a cell phone fee because I started using cell phones and dish satellite Skype at my home or business because I still have the land line connected and only pay a basic fee. Utilities are going to lose this battle in the end and they will need to find new business models to generate income as homes and businesses stop using the grid generated KW's.
The changes we will see in the next 10 years with Solar and battery storage will be enormous and no worries about fighting the big power companies as they will be unable to battle the wave of change.
