"... our CEO was quite clear that he wants me to ship at least one of the SoFIA line in 14nm in 2016."

Isn't that bothering any of you guys? What is Chipzilla hindering? Don't tell me it is non technical, otherwise Broxton would be released with integrated modem/comms right from the start - it is certainly cheaper than a two chip solution (three chip if you count in the RF frontend). Is there anyone with a good guess what Intel's technical issues are? Why is this multi billion company not able to integrate its own standard wireless communication IP on its own process tech? I really don't get it what takes Intel so long and it bothers me. Either it is a management issue or, which I fear, Intel is much more behind the foundry/ARM pack than they pretend to be.

By 2016, everyone will have access to 14nm foundries, so Intel basically wasted its process lead, and that's going to shrink even further in the future. It will be much harder to fight the competition without this lead, so Intel basically wasted (very) precious time here. I expect Intel to only have a small process lead at 10nm compared to Samsung, if any. It will be much harder to keep ARM based solutions at distance by then (and Intel isn't even able to do it today, with 14nm and Cherry Trail - very poor showing).
