This statement is incorrect because the price of a stock is based entirely upon belief. If you believe this stock is going to be higher in the future you buy, if you believe it is going to be lower in the future you sell or short sell. To say that the 'investing community' does not have an affect on a stocks price is purely ignorant. In fact, the investment community plays the most significant role because all that matters in the end is if supply is greater than demand or vise versa.
