Community Health Resilience Initiative Kick-Off Meeting
Summary EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
A diverse national Stakeholder Group of
practitioners and experts convened via webinar on
February 20, 2013
to launch a collaborative
Community Health Resilience Initiative (CHRI).
The focus of the Initiative is to develop a Planning Guide
(Guide)and Resource Toolkit
(Toolkit)
for use nationwide by organizations with roles and missions in assuring public health
and safety. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Health Affairs
(OHA),the project’s sponsor, hosted the CHRI Kick-Off Meeting.

The purpose was to
(1)
enable Stakeholder Group members to share perspectives on the
Initiative focus, scope, and evolution;
(2)
identify prospective users of the Guide and Toolkit;
and
(3)
discuss how to maximize Guide and Toolkit value for users.
The webinar combined short presentations from OHA and
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)officials
and facilitated discussions on potential users and scope,
and the major focus areas and key capabilities that would be the
foundation of the Guide and Toolkit. Participants also addressed the process to develop the Guide and Toolkit through regular
