imo It is critical to have an atmosphere conducive to both sides of the coin, but not when the other side is totally conspiracy theory without end, and void of any thorough substantiation.

AFter a while it is like The Kennedy deaths, or Vince Foster, or so many other conspiracy theories. They are great reading, but can't be substantiated. Even though they have some elements to fact/truth in them all.
